Membership

Q: How can I become a member?
A:  If you live in the Lakewood Gardens tract, you can become a member by signing up on this website or by completing a membership application and sending it (along with your membership dues) to LGCA, Attn: Membership Records, 4217 Ashworth St, Lakewood, CA 90712.

Q: What if I don't live in Lakewood Gardens?
A: If you are a resident of Lakewood, and you know an LGCA member in good standing, then you can have that LGCA Member sponsor your membership. You will not have voting rights, but you can use the clubhouse and are eligible for the member rental rate.

Q: What do I get for becoming an LGCA Member? 
A: You will be given an access key card to be able to enter and use the clubhouse daily from 7 am to 10 pm. You will able to use the pool, attend member-only events, and rent the clubhouse at the discounted member rental rates. (See the Clubhouse Rentals tab for more information regarding rentals) You will also be given a yard sign that shows you are an LGCA Member.

Q: I haven't been given my LGCA Yard sign. Where can I get one?
A: Please contact the Membership Records board member for your yard sign. Or ask for one at our next LGCA Clubhouse event.

Q: Can I loan my access card to a family member/friend/neighbor?
A: No, allowing a non-member the use of a member's access card may result in suspension of the membership.

Q: I can't find my access card. Can I have a new one?
A: Yes, we can issue you a new access card for the $50 replacement fee.

Q: What if my access card doesn't work? Do I still have to pay the $50 replacement fee?

A: No, if the access card is defective, just return it to us and we will exchange it for a new card.

Q: I'm moving and will no longer need my access card. What should I do with it?
A: If you will no longer be a member, then please drop it off in the LGCA mailbox so that we can re-assign it to new members.

Clubhouse Rentals

Q: Do I have to be a member to rent the clubhouse?

A: Currently, we allow Lakewood Residents to rent the clubhouse in addition to our LGCA Members. (See the Clubhouse Rentals tab for more information)

Q: Can I sublet the clubhouse rental?
A: No. Renting the clubhouse with the intention to sublet it is PROHIBITED and may result in you being banned from future rentals. 

Q: Can I have a party and charge admission?
A: No, you may not have a party for the purpose of charging admission to it, running a business, and/or making a profit from a clubhouse rental. If you do, you may not be allowed future rentals. Members may be subject to having their membership revoked.

Q: Can I rent the clubhouse for a fundraiser?
A: No, you may not rent the clubhouse to hold any fundraisers.

Q: How late can my rental event last?
A: Rental events for members can go until 9 pm (at the latest.) We had to shorten the rental time period because past renters were staying until 11 pm - midnight. You need to ask your guests to leave the facility by 9 pm. Only your cleaning crew may stay later to clean up.

Q: Can we play music or have a DJ at our event?

A: Yes, as long as you don't have it so loud that it disturbs the local neighbors. 

Q: Do you have a grill that I can rent for my rental event?
A: Yes, we have a propane grill in the back yard that is available for rental. You are responsible for cleaning the grill after you use it.

Q: Do I have to sweep & mop after my rental
A: Yes, you are required to clean up after your event. This includes throwing out garbage, sweeping & mopping the floors, and wiping down all counter tops. All folding tables & chairs must be returned to their storage locations.

Q: What happens if I don't clean up well?

A: You will be given an opportunity the next morning after your event to inspect the cleanup you did the night before and to be able to do additional cleaning. However, if you don't come to inspect your cleanup and leave areas dirty, your security deposit may be subject to cleaning penalty deductions.

Q: Can I hire a cleaning crew to clean up for me?
A: Yes, we have our in-house cleaning crew that you may hire to clean up for you. But you are still responsible for putting away the tables and chairs. Check the Clubhouse Rentals tab for pricing of the LGCA Cleaning Crew.

Q: How can I get the marquee sign personalized?
A: Check the applicable box on the Rental Application and write down what you want the marquee sign to say. See the Clubhouse Rentals tab for pricing.

Q: What happens if I have a wild party?
A: If your rental event results in the Lakewood Sheriff Dept being called in, your rental event will be canceled immediately, your security deposit will be forfeited, and you will be banned from future rentals. Members are subject to having their membership revoked.

Clubhouse

Q: Can I smoke in the clubhouse?

A: No, smoking is prohibited inside of the clubhouse or on the pool deck. You may smoke in the back yard where a cigarette butt disposal can is provided.

Q: Can I cook in the clubhouse?
A: Yes, we have a kitchen located in the Member's Lounge available for members only. Note: You may NOT DEEP FRY anything anywhere on the property due to fire hazard concerns.

Q: Do you have a grill that I can use?
A: Yes, we have a propane grill in the back yard that is available for use, however, you must provide your own propane tank. If you wish to use the LGCA propane tank, you would need to pay the grill rental fee.

Q: Can I bring my dog to the clubhouse?
A: No, you may not bring your dog to the clubhouse. Only seeing-eye dogs and TRAINED Service Animals are allowed. Support animals are NOT allowed.

Swimming Pool

Q: Is the pool heated?
A: We currently use a solar pool heating system. The water temperature is subject to the number of hours that the solar panels are exposed to sunlight. In the winter the water may still be cold since there are not as many hours of sunlight compared to the summer.

Q: Can I drop my kids off at the pool while I do some errands?
A: No, minors must have their parent/guardian (who is also an LGCA Member) on site when they are at the clubhouse. 

Q: Can I let my kids use my access card to use the pool after school while I'm at work?
A: No, minors must have their parent/guardian (who is also an LGCA Member) on site when they are at the clubhouse.

Q: Can a grandparents watch my kids when they are at the clubhouse?
A: Adults who DO NOT reside in the member household may NOT use the member's access card to enter the clubhouse. Allowing a non-member the use of a member's access card may result in suspension of the membership.

Q: Can I bring my dog to the pool deck?
A: No, you may not bring your dog to the clubhouse. Only seeing-eye dogs and TRAINED Service Animals are allowed. Support animals are NOT allowed.

Q: Can I smoke on the pool deck?

A: No, smoking is prohibited on the pool deck

Q: Can I drink beer on the pool deck?

A: You may consume alcoholic beverages on the pool deck, provided that you are 21 yrs old or older and you DO NOT BRING GLASS CONTAINERS ONTO THE POOL DECK due to the safety hazard of metal bottle caps and broken glass on bare feet. You are encouraged to use either plastic beverage containers or bring beer in cans.

Q: Can I use my BBQ grill on the pool deck?
A: No, you may not. You can grill in the back yard (the exit is located near the bar area) by either bringing your own charcoal grill, or by bringing a propane tank to use the LGCA grill. You will have to clean the grill after you use is so that the next person using it won't have to clean it. 

Q: Where do I dispose of my trash?
A: Garbage cans are provided and are located in various spots on the pool deck. Please put water bottles, beer & soda cans in the recycle bins inside of the large hall (or just outside the back door of the clubhouse.)

Q: Is that white pool ring a toy?
A: No, that white pool ring that hangs by the pool motor shed is a lifesaving device and is not to be used as a toy.
