The LGCA clubhouse is here to be a fun place for members to enjoy! Come take a swim in the pool with your family! Rent the clubhouse for family parties at a discounted rate! Attend Member-Only events! (Movie Night, Game Night, etc.) But you must be a member to take advantage of these benefits. We have recently opened up "Sponsored" memberships--only a current LGCA Member in good standing can sponsor another Lakewood resident for membership. Sponsored memberships are on an annual basis and the membership fee must be paid up front in full. Click on "Join Us" button below for the membership rate.

It is also the oldest homeowner's association in California and draws its members from the 452 homes built in Lakewood Gardens. We've been proudly serving the Lakewood Gardens community through a historical chain of caring volunteers since 1948!!
The clubhouse consists of a small front lounge with kitchen, a fireplace, and a bathroom; a larger main hall with a small stage, a bar area, two bathrooms; and an outdoor pool area with a large swimming pool, tables, and chaise lounge chairs. The clubhouse is available for a Discounted Member Rental Rate to members in good standing. Clubhouse Hours: 10am to 8 pm daily. (Subject to clubhouse rental times. If the clubhouse is rented, members can still swim in the pool until 2pm.) Lakewood Gardens was built in 1946-1947 by a developer named Paul Trousdale. It is bounded on the north by Ashworth Street, on the east of Lakewood Boulevard, on the south by South Street, and on the west by Hayter Avenue. There are 452 homes in this area.

Membership has always been on an optional basis, with a small initiation fee, plus monthly dues and a great deal of effort on the part of those who volunteer to keep it functioning.

Each year, in January, the Association holds its Annual Election and Meeting, at which time a slate of officers and board members is elected to serve as a Board of Directors to guide the activities of the group and to maintain the clubhouse premises. Swimming is extremely popular to our members during summer months, and they bring their families in to enjoy the patio-furnished 1/4 Olympic-sized swimming pool.
Other member activities might include potlucks, card parties, pancake breakfasts, dinners for special occasions, fundraisers of one sort or another, and movie & game nights.
Community activities include: Blood Drives, Polling Place for local/state/federal elections, and events that are open to everyone in the community such as the Annual Easter Egg Hunt, Halloween Costume Parade & Party, and Project Shepard food drive.
Recent modifications to the clubhouse facility include:

1) French door added
2) New poolside window
3) New roof
4) Repositioned the skylight
5) Hall ceiling painted and MORE UPGRADES TO COME...
2019:
1) Planted flowers in the planter beds
2) Added curtains to the women's bathroom and large hall
3) Installed new pool pump motor
4) Replaced pool underwater light
5) Installed curtain rods & curtains in large Hall
6) Roof repair on cricket area
7) Purchased & installed Firestick for online streaming on TVs in Member Lounge
2018:
1) Purchased new table & chairs for additional seating in Member Lounge
2) Purchased & installed 2 flat screen TVs in the Member Lounge
3) Installed new "entry code" door lock for easier member access to the Member Lounge
2017:
1) Thermal pool heating system was installed.
2) New kitchen window installed
3) Replaced men's bathroom ceiling light with new fan light
4) Patched up drywall hole in men's bathroom ceiling
5) Purchased new pool deck furniture (4 picnic tables & chaise lounges)
6) Painted the pool deck inner wall
7) Purchased palm trees for around the pool deck area
2016:
1) The clubhouse exterior was painted,
2) New exterior lighting (on timers) for the front of the building were added,
3) Pool deck overhead lights were upgraded (on timers),
4) Motion sensors for the bathroom lights (on timers) were installed,
5) New recessed lights added in courtyard entrance,
6) The electrical panel was upgraded,
7) A/C units were installed in both the small and large halls,
8) A solar electrical system was installed.
9) New windows installed in large hall
2015:
1) New front entrance doors with access control panel installed
2) Security system & video surveillance cameras installed
3) New planter with roses lining the Lakewood Blvd side of the property
4) WiFi access to members & guests,
5) Re-decorated Member Lounge.
Your active participation in volunteering for the different events, Board positions, and activities helps keep the clubhouse operating costs down, making it run more efficiently, and most importantly, maintains our dues at the lowest possible rates over years.
